Teh Chumbe Island Coral Park includes a fully protected Coral Reef Sanctuary and Forest Reserve that harbour rare wildlife, a Visitor and Education centre, a small eco-lodge, nature walks and historical monuments. It is famous for the amazing snorkeling and the rare coconut crabs.
Due to its protection the reef has remained in a pristine state and represents one of the most beautiful and diverse shallow reefs in the region. It hosts 90% of East Africa’s hard coral species, over 400 reef fish species and is an important feeding ground for hawksbill and green turtles.
When you arrive at the Zanzibar Airport, a driver will meet you for a transfer to the Mbweni Ruins Hotel. There is a scheduled boat at 10:00am to go to Chumbe Island.

The whole of Chumbe Island is a nature reserve and you may explore its beauty either under the competent guidance of our experienced rangers or at your leisure. All guided activities are included in your stay and scheduled daily, according to the prevalent tides to ensure snorkelling is conducted when tide conditions are optimal.
Snorkel through our unique shallow water Coral Reef Sanctuary, join guided nature walks and gaze at historical monuments. Take an excursion out scuba diving the nearby reefs, or perhaps just allow yourself a lazy day watching dhows and outrigger boats going by.

The boat back to Zanzibar Island departs at 9:00am and arrives at the Mbweni Ruins Hotel dock at 10:00am. We can arrange a Stone Town Tour, Spice Tour, transfer to the airport, or extend your stay on Zanzibar.
